Your diet has an impact on you internally and externally and is so powerful. It has the ability to make you feel good in the short term as well as healthy in the long term and short - or the opposite. Certain foods release certain energy, keep you fuller for longer and help encourage the release of good hormones which make you feel better and happier. Other food can do the opposite as well as help you pile on the pounds
A balanced diet is always great and ensuring you are eating wholefoods, which are high in protein, healthy fats, vegetables and include if you like some form of complex carbs. I always try and have green leafy vegetables, other vegetables and then some healthy fats such as avocado, olives, MCT oil and protein like salmon, chicken, eggs and then some carbs when I am hungry such as oats or sweet potato. Once you become aware of how so many foods are processed, it is much more tempting to cook at home to avoid this when you eat out and to keep the ingredients fresh.
Avoiding processed, sugary food or simple carbs like cakes, white bread, artificial meats and fried food is a great thing to do within reason as it stops your insulin levels spiking, which ages our body. It also stops cravings for more of these foods, leading to you losing control and gaining weight. Filling up on the food in the paragraph above is a safe bet to keep your body healthy both on the outside and the inside, your skin glowing and you feeling your best.
Make sure to always listen to your body and don't under or over eat, as you can risk going off track here. The same goes for over exercising, which can be counter productive. Once you get the balance right and find out what works for you in terms of food, portions and exercise your body will thank you and you will look and feel great! The power of your diet is huge.
